Renault Kwid small car segment from RENAULT

KWID

Renault India, the subsidiary of the French automobile giant has stunned the world by unveiling its latest hatchback model named as Kwid . The company has been working on this model from a long time under the code name 'XBA'. Now, it has officially pulled off covers over its production model, which looks very attractive. The manufacturer claims that this soon to be launched hatchback will carry a starting price tag of just around Rs. 3.0 lakh (ex-showroom). At the same time, it also stated that this model will feature some of the first-in-class features like driver side airbag (optional), a navigation system and a digital instrument cluster along with chrome accents on AC vents. This will eventually give tough times for the market leaders like Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and others in the entry level segment. In terms of its exteriors, it does not exactly look like a hatchback, instead, it gets the design cues from Duster. It has black colored protective claddings and wheel arch fenders along with side moldings, which gives it an appeal of an SUV. It also has an intimidating front facade with bold radiator grille and black accents inside headlight cluster.

The masculine front bumper is another aspect that emphasizes its robust looks. Coming to the insides, they look pretty simple and laden with standard features. However, its central console gets a glossy black treatment, which is the main attraction of the cabin. It has roomy insides, which is good enough to host at least five occupants. At the same time, it also seems to have a decent boot volume, which is essential for planning longer trips. The manufacturer has not revealed much about its features or specifications, which is increasing the curiosity among car enthusiasts. According to the sources, this yet to be launched vehicle is going to be introduced with an 800cc petrol engine under the hood. We can expect that this mill may produce a power in the range of 45 to 50bhp. As for the transmission, company's sources have confirmed that they are working on AMT (automated manual transmission), which makes it even competitive in the segment. This vehicle is expected to go on sale by the end of this year or probably by the upcoming festive season.

Mahindra TUV 300 a real compact SUV

TUV 300

Mahindra and Mahindra is the leading firm in the utility vehicle segment of this country. It has a several SUV models in its fleet, which are still dominating the market and has earned the top slot for their manufacturer. Now, this automobile firm has added one more product to its line-up, which will be competing in the relatively new compact SUV segment. It is the most awaited Mahindra TUV300 , which is set out to strengthen the company's foothold in this sector. Introduced in seven trim levels, this sports utility vehicle is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk80 diesel engine.

The heavy built sports utility vehicle is Mahindra’s answer to the newly launched and some old players in the SUV markets such as Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and several others. Indian SUV market is at its very peak in recent years with the small or entry car market is on a low. However, Mahindra’s SUVs are also quite a hit among the consumers already but the intensifying competition now a days will compel the biggest of the companies to work harder to ensure their share in the total sales for SUVs. And to make the matters interesting, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is also coming in a next few days.Mahindra different from others is its affection towards muscular designs they impose in their vehicles, so this is not quite a very surprising thing that the new SUV from Mahindra looks like a battle tank. However different may they be from the rest, there is no denying on the fact that Mahindra has known the pulse of Indian consumers more than the ‘outsiders’ which makes it hold its special place in the market despite the entry and exit of many companies.
In a recent news release, the company officials said that the new TUV3OO will be slightly different from its older cousins as it will be having a flat roof, raised shoulders, straight bonnet, high front nose and a very high ground clearance as well making it an idle SUV to go with the harsh off-roading as well.

Pawan Goenka, the executive director of Mahindra and Mahindra said that a need for a muscular, strong built and heavy SUV was felt and they acted according to it like always. He added that he is quite sure that the new UV is going to perform excessively well in the market same as its older generation counterparts which are presently illuminating the Indian big car market and same as them, TUV3OO will turn out to be an iconic vehicle as long as Indian Territory is concerned.

Mahindra TUV3OO will be powered by Mahindra’s widely acclaimed mHawk engine which will churn out a maximum power of 80 ps. The mHawk engine currently serving other Mahindra big shots such as Scorpio and XUV500 seems to be the right choice as there are no second thoughts about the engine performance of above mentioned SUVs.

If analysts reports are to be believed then the Indian SUV market is on a rise, but in past few months it has faced a slight decrease in the total sales. The reason is consumer’s anticipation for new and better models. For example, Maruti Suzuki S-cross is highly awaited car thus many consumers are holding their money to wait until the car gets launch. This has put an immense pressure on the established players to keep upmarketing their models to remain in the competition.

Maruti Suzuki's NEXA Cross segment 's' S cross

                                                 Suzuki S-Cross cross

Maruti will join the fray with its new Suzuki S-Cross cross hatchback. Although we originally expected the S-Cross to go up against the new range of cross hatchbacks from Toyota, Fiat and Volkswagen, its main rivals will actually be the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and the Ford Ecosport. Expect Maruti to price this similar to the likes of the Ciaz or even slightly higher at about Rs 8-10 lakh. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets a bold two-slat chrome grille that flaunts the company’s logo. On either side, are those massive projector type headlights with Daytime Running Lights. The S-Cross will sport 16-inch alloy wheels, disc brakes on all four corners and scuff plats up front. To make the S-Cross look aggressive in profile,
Maruti Suzuki has fitted it with black cladding on the door and wheel arch. At the back the taillights get chrome accents. Other features include, button start, reverse parking sensors and steering mounted controls. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets two diesel engines. The 1.3-litre engine will make 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. This variant will be badged DDiS 200. The larger 1.6-litre engine will get 120PS of peak power and 320Nm of peak torque from its turbocharged diesel engine.
This variant will be badged DDiS 320. Maruti has also chaged the way they name their variants with the new S-Cross. Gone are the LXI, VXI and ZXI badges to be replaced with Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha in ascending order. The DDiS version wil be available in five varaints, Sigma, Sigma (O), Delta, Zeta and Alpha while the more premium DDiS 320 will get only three variants, i.e. Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The DDiS 320 will weigh 1250kg and will feature a six speed gearbox. The DDiS 200 will weigh 1180kg and will be mated with a five speed manual gearbox. The S-Cross will also feature ground clearance of 180mm and a 48 litre fuel tank.
The S-Cross combines the best in fuel efficiency and raw power with the DDiS 320 & DDiS 200 engine. Ensuring that you’ll never hold back when you’re driving behind the wheel.

All new 1.6l DDiS 320 diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6l is the biggest by Maruti Suzuki. This engine gives you a massive torque of 320Nm @ 1750rpm and has a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). The VGT gives optimal forced induction by controlling the flow of exhaust gases in accordance with the engine speed, thereby helping to release high torque, low fuel consumption, and low emissions of particulate matter. The diesel engine is complemented by various sound-insulating materials which suppress the vibration and noise that characterize diesel engines. The 1.3l diesel engine with Variable Geometry Turbocharger generates optimum power and excellent torque of 200Nm @ 1750rpm. The combination of common rail fuel injection with an inter-cooled turbocharger delivers dynamic torque for excellent acceleration and all-round performance, together with best-in-class fuel-efficiency.

Mahindra Launch New Mahindra Thar

Mahindra has launched a face-lifted version of its Thar jeep that has incorporated a number of styling and comfort enhancements. In an attempt to refresh its jeep not just on the grounds of appearance, Mahindra has also made it more convenient for occupants while also making it more capable off-road with the incorporation of a manually locking rear differential. On the face of it, the refreshed Mahindra Thar gets a new and bigger front bumper, new clear lens head lamps, more flared wheel arches, new side steps, new rear bumper and a revised canopy that is easier to attach and detatch. There is also a new modular hard top roof as an option alongside alloy wheels and more. The underpinnings of the updated Mahindra Thar remain the same as the original model with a ladder frame chassis, coil springs up front and leaf springs at the rear. The rear shackles though have been strengthened to deal with more weight and the front hook has been strengthened too. Under, the hood the new Mahindra Thar continues to be powered by the earlier model’s 2,498cc, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that develops 105PS of max power @ 3,800 rpm and 247Nm of peak torque between 1,800 rpm and 2,000 rpm.
The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The four-wheel drive transfer case too is the same Borgwarner unit, now featuring a rear differential lock. Mahindra claims that the vehicle has been made more refined thanks to a new catalytic converter. Inside the new Thar is where Mahindra has really pushed the envelope for the jeep by making it better suited as a lifestyle vehicle. The Thar now gets new seats that are more supportive, the dashboard is now finished in a dual tone colour theme of black and beige, there are new and more premium air vents and HVAC switchgear as well. The instrument cluster is all-new. The steering wheel and gear knobs have been borrowed from the Bolero. And there are new door pads as well. The HVAC system now has a demister for the windshield as well. Down below, the floor console now has cup holders to improve practicality. The rear seats are now shorter in length in order for the front seats to be able to recline backwards more.

President & Chief Executive, (Automotive) Mahindra, spoke at the launch of the new Mahindra Thar CRDe, by saying, “Since its launch, the Thar has been the face of our tough and rugged DNA, a continuation of our legacy and what Mahindra stands for. Today as we launch the new avatar of this ever popular off-roader, the effort has been to enhance the appeal of a brand that is already a cult. Increasingly consumers are looking for a different lifestyle as they seek an adventure and fun experience and the Thar is the perfect companion for such thrill seekers. I am confident that in its new avatar, the Thar CRDe will not only continue to be ever popular among off-road enthusiasts but significantly widen its appeal amongst a whole new set of consumers.” The Thar has become a favourite amongst off-road enthusiasts in the country. With its 200mm of ground clearance, 44 degree approach and 27 degree departure angle, the Thar even in stock form is a formidable off-roader that is more than capable of dealing with our regular cross country roads or rather the lack of them
