Maruti Suzuki's NEXA Cross segment 's' S cross

                                                 Suzuki S-Cross cross

Maruti will join the fray with its new Suzuki S-Cross cross hatchback. Although we originally expected the S-Cross to go up against the new range of cross hatchbacks from Toyota, Fiat and Volkswagen, its main rivals will actually be the likes of the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and the Ford Ecosport. Expect Maruti to price this similar to the likes of the Ciaz or even slightly higher at about Rs 8-10 lakh. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets a bold two-slat chrome grille that flaunts the company’s logo. On either side, are those massive projector type headlights with Daytime Running Lights. The S-Cross will sport 16-inch alloy wheels, disc brakes on all four corners and scuff plats up front. To make the S-Cross look aggressive in profile,
Maruti Suzuki has fitted it with black cladding on the door and wheel arch. At the back the taillights get chrome accents. Other features include, button start, reverse parking sensors and steering mounted controls. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross gets two diesel engines. The 1.3-litre engine will make 90PS of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. This variant will be badged DDiS 200. The larger 1.6-litre engine will get 120PS of peak power and 320Nm of peak torque from its turbocharged diesel engine.
This variant will be badged DDiS 320. Maruti has also chaged the way they name their variants with the new S-Cross. Gone are the LXI, VXI and ZXI badges to be replaced with Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha in ascending order. The DDiS version wil be available in five varaints, Sigma, Sigma (O), Delta, Zeta and Alpha while the more premium DDiS 320 will get only three variants, i.e. Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The DDiS 320 will weigh 1250kg and will feature a six speed gearbox. The DDiS 200 will weigh 1180kg and will be mated with a five speed manual gearbox. The S-Cross will also feature ground clearance of 180mm and a 48 litre fuel tank.
The S-Cross combines the best in fuel efficiency and raw power with the DDiS 320 & DDiS 200 engine. Ensuring that you’ll never hold back when you’re driving behind the wheel.

All new 1.6l DDiS 320 diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6l is the biggest by Maruti Suzuki. This engine gives you a massive torque of 320Nm @ 1750rpm and has a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT). The VGT gives optimal forced induction by controlling the flow of exhaust gases in accordance with the engine speed, thereby helping to release high torque, low fuel consumption, and low emissions of particulate matter. The diesel engine is complemented by various sound-insulating materials which suppress the vibration and noise that characterize diesel engines. The 1.3l diesel engine with Variable Geometry Turbocharger generates optimum power and excellent torque of 200Nm @ 1750rpm. The combination of common rail fuel injection with an inter-cooled turbocharger delivers dynamic torque for excellent acceleration and all-round performance, together with best-in-class fuel-efficiency.
